Fresh Halibut 

Northwest Earth & Ocean offers the freshest whole halibut and best trimmed fillets available.  Our halibut sourcing differs from those of large seafood houses that focus primarily on paying lower prices based on volume buys. Northwest Earth & Ocean puts a heavy emphasis on making  quality purchases  in quantities that help us to ensure we are providing the freshest halibut possible to our customers. Below are some of the practices we adhere to when sourcing our Pacific Halibut.

  • Our fresh halibut is always flown in from Alaska, never trucked in.

  • Our halibut fishermen are “short-trip boats”, meaning less than 4 days at sea.

  • Small loads, and smaller family owned vessels, rather than commercially owned boats.

  • Full support between Northwest Earth & Ocean and the fishing vessels, rather than a large commercial plant.

  • Fishing areas are of Pristine waters, such as Sitka Sound, Taku, Juneau and Queen Charlotte.

  • Method of catch is “longline”, which is exactly that, hook and line. Then bled, dressed, iced on board the vessel.

Along with Halibut, we will be bringing in fresh black cod (sablefish), fresh ling cod, and a variety of high end rockfish, such as yellow eye, red banded and canary.
